Labradoodles come in a wide range of color, since Labrador Retrievers and Poodles come in many different colors. Some of the most common colors for Labradoodles include:
Goldendoodles tend to be lighter colored with most dogs having a coat that is white, cream, apricot, or red.
Labradoodle Coat Type:
Labradoodles’ coats fall into one of three categories (sometimes they are a mix of two of the categories below):
- fleece (non-shedding)
- wool (non-shedding)
- hair textured (shedding); this coat is very similar to that of a Labrador Retriever, and like the Lab, this coat will shed. The same is true with a Goldendoodle, that if the puppy get’s the Golden Retriever’s coat, it will shed. The Poodle coat is the dominant gene, but many people buy an F1b puppy (see the F-factor for an explanation), trying to insure a non-shedding coat.
Although initial Labradoodles were bred as a larger dog, they are now available in three basic sizes:
- Standard Labradoodles stand 21-24″ tall at the shoulder.
- Medium Labradoodles stand 17-20″ tall at the shoulder.
- Mini Labradoodles stand 14-16″ tall at the shoulder.
