It is very important to socialize your Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, Aussiedoodle, or Schnoodle from the time you bring the puppy home as an 8-week-old. Your doodle puppy needs to learn to live comfortably around humans, other dogs, and other animals. Throughout your Labradoodles early weeks, he/she will encounter many various sights and sounds. You do not want your Designer Dog to be scared of every unfamiliar noise or person. When a puppy is 10-18 weeks old, it is particularly important to introduce your Doodle dog to as many different experiences as possible. By about 18-20 weeks, much of the socialization window is over.
Without overwhelming your Labradoodle puppy, you will want to socialize him by taking him around other dogs, young children, older folks, your family members. Be sure to introduce your Doodle puppy to your neighbors. Be careful not to be too protective of your Goldendoodle puppy as you do not want him to develop over dependence upon you and suffer with separation anxiety in the future. Socialization of Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Aussiedoodles, and other Poodle hybrids is just as important as it is for any other puppy. Hopefully your Doodle will be your friend for years to come, and how well you socialize during the first few years of your Labradoodle’s life will greatly affect the quality of Doodle dog you have for the many years to follow.
